Three pillars of sustainability
MC Construction is committed to the three pillars of sustainability: environmental, economic and social sustainability.
Environmental sustainability
Our SHE Manager ensures we adopt and comply with the latest environmental best practice. Our estimating, procurement and contract teams analyse materials and processes and carry out environmental value engineering; replacing single-use, non-renewable materials with those that can easily be re-purposed. For every project we create an Environmental Management Plan and undertake Environmental Impact Risk Assessments. Waste management methods include active reductions of waste produced in addition to the reduction of waste to landfill and the use of organisations such as Recipro and JWS Waste to recycle wherever possible. Additionally, we utilise the web-based tool ConstructCO2 to monitor and reduce carbon footprints of site activities.
Economic sustainability
We have a direct employment policy and seek to employ a workforce local to the areas in which we operate. Additionally, we utilise our Local Supply Chain software to make procurement decisions which result in a supply chain based in close proximity to our sites to increase opportunities for local employment and economic gain across the North West.
Social sustainability
As a family-orientated organisation we have a proven commitment to the development of our employees . We have policies in place related to the education and training of a workforce recruited from the areas in which we work. We provide regular training and awareness programmes to our teams and supply chain, including environmental and sustainability training through project specific tool-box talks and presentations. We are strong proponents of social responsibility – undertaking community initiatives on our projects.
