Seven muddy marvels from Manchester & Cheshire Construction raised more than £1,300 for a home for ex-servicemen and women by completing the gruelling Total Warrior obstacle race.
The team included procurement manager Hazel Lovell, assistant quantity surveyors Peter Walshaw and Daniel Ryding and trainee quantity surveyor Alexander Wilson.
They overcame 30 punishing obstacles by running, crawling, jumping and climbing through mud, ice, a river and even fire during the 10k course in the Lake District.
The super seven raised £845 from sponsors and Manchester & Cheshire has added a £500 company donation. All of the money will go to Broughton House in Salford, which is celebrating its centenary this year.
Dave Lowe, managing director of Manchester & Cheshire, said:
‘Everyone who took part in the Total Warrior race deserves a huge pat on the back.’
‘We’re delighted to contribute towards the upkeep of Broughton House. It’s a local charity and we firmly believe in supporting the care of our armed forces personnel who have put their own lives on the line to protect our country and our freedom.’
Broughton House chief executive Ty Platten said:
‘We are absolutely delighted with the valuable funds raised by the Total Warrior team from Manchester & Cheshire Construction, whose strength, stamina and determination has so admirably mirrored the characters of the World War Two veterans in our care who we are lucky to still have with us today.’
‘It is an honour to be associated with others who do not forget those who live with the ageing scars of war and who assist Broughton House to support those whose service to their country has finished and need a place to live in dignity and call home.’
